Why do we wear clothes?
We all need certain things. One of them is clothes. We cover our bodies with clothes. Clothes keep us safe from the sun, wind, rain, and cold. Good, clean clothes make us look nice and smart.
We should use clothes that are neat and clean. We dress differently for different occasions and seasons. We choose what to wear based on the weather.
How clothes are made?
Different kinds of materials are used to make clothes.
- Cotton is used to make clothes. Cotton comes from plants that grow cotton.
- Wool is used to making woollen clothes. We get wool from sheep.
- Rubber is used to make raincoats. We get rubber from rubber trees.
Clothes we wear in different seasons
As mentioned earlier we wear clothes based on the weather. Let us have a look at the clothes we wear in different seasons.
Summer Season Clothes
Summer clothes are made of cotton. They help to keep our bodies cool. They are light in colour. We feel relaxed when we wear cotton clothes in summer.
Some examples of summer clothes include
- Cotton Shirt
- Dress
- Frock
- Cap
- T-shirt
- One-piece bathing suit etc.
Winter Season Clothes
In winter we wear woollen clothes to keep ourselves warm. Woollen clothes are made of wool. These clothes keep our bodies warm.
Some examples of winter clothes are
- Cardigan
- Jacket
- Long Coat
- Gloves
- Sweater
- Fleece etc.
Rainy Season Clothes
When it’s raining, we wear raincoats to keep ourselves dry. When it rains, we also use umbrellas. Rubber is used to make raincoats. We get rubber from the rubber plants. In the rainy season, we also use gumboots.
Special occasion clothes
We dress differently depending on the occasion. For example, when exercising or swimming, we wear special clothing. On weddings and celebrations, we wear ethnic clothing such as Lehengas, Sarees, and Shervani.
Clothes according to work
We dress differently depending on our job and responsibilities. We recognise people by their clothing, such as doctors, nurses, police officers, pilots, watchmen, lawyers, and so on.
